Hello!
My name is Susan and I’m a 28 (as of today) year old attorney, business owner, wife, mom to a wonderful puppy (Dobie mix), baker, and all around hot mess!
I love food – I love to cook it, and then inevitably eat it.
With that said, I have struggled with my weight all my life – and still do. Prior to about a year ago, I was eating all the wrong things – hot dogs, fries, burgers, tacos – all brown and brown-ish things. Recently, I steered away from the processed, the filler, and the fried and added some COLOR to my diet – - red (apples, peppers, cherries, tomatoes, pomegranates) green (peppers, cucumbers, KALE!, spinach, celery), orange (butternut squash, peppers – I love me some peppers!), purple (eggplant…I’m sure you get the gist by now)!
I also started to read healthy living blogs. I read so many inspirational stories of people changing their life one day, one meal, one run at a time – and, needless to say – I was hooked!
I really started to examine the things I was eating and have switched to eating more whole foods. Nowadays, it is very unlikely that you will find me picking up a 100-calorie cereal bar when I can have an apple and almonds instead.
Am I always picking the right things? Hell to the NO! I am human (hear me roar!) and I make mistakes. Instead of focusing on my mistakes – I learn and look forward.
I started this blog in an effort to chronicle my day, my food, my thoughts, my exercising and to share the same with you!

The Color Diet= a rainbow on your plate
Color is good!
Whenever I feel like I’m in a rut, I look at the colors I’m eating (or not eating..).
I love your bio! I just did a presentation for preschoolers about eating the rainbow!! it’s a good idea! i also very much enjoy that you are a self-described hot mess! LOVE that term…use it all the time

Right on, Sista! I’ve always struggled with the “W” too. I found a path of moderation by eating healthy but not depriving myself of the decadent desserts that I love (life would be so bland!) and I excercise a lot.

LOVE this!!! Look forward to reading more your blog!!! Love your personality and passion.
Good for you! Until a few years ago, I was pretty much in the same boat as you were. I still struggle with my (vegan) junk food addiction, but now I’m learning to balance that with my interest in fitness (weird combo, I know). I’m blogging about it as well, to help keep me motivated and hopefully motivate other people out there too!
I am looking forward to reading your blog! I think its so important to have some color in your diet!
thanks for stopping by my blog! i look forward to reading more of yours!

Hi! I just came across your blog from your comment on KERF’s! =) I am adding your blog to my Google reader because I think we have a lot in common!! Look forward to reading along!
I just came across your blog, Susan, and found myself thinking, “that’s me!” Partly, at least. I started blogging my family’s recipes, which are based on eating the rainbow and everything in moderation. I was an attorney before my little one came along – and when he did, it really inspired me to make a conscious effort to eat more seasonally and colorfully. Can’t wait to follow your recipes and adventures in the kitchen. Great to have found you!
Just found your blog. I love the idea of color eating! I, too, started a blog after being motivated by other healthy living blogs. I’m excited to give yours a read.
